About the Role
We’re looking for a Director of Finance to plan and coordinate accounting functions across our business.
Key Responsibilities
Own financial strategy & planning
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial modeling tied to ARR growth, burn, and capital strategy.
- Translate board-level goals into measurable operating targets.
Drive SaaS metrics & performance rigor
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Own reporting on ARR, MRR, GRR, NRR, LTV:CAC, burn multiple, gross margin, and Rule of 40.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to improve unit economics and retention.
Board & executive reporting
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Prepare monthly financial packages, KPI dashboards, and cash runway analysis.
- Support board materials and investor updates with clear narrative and insight (not just data).
Cash management & capital planning
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Manage cash forecasting and runway modeling.
- Support fundraising initiatives (data room prep, investor diligence, scenario modeling).
- Evaluate debt, credit facilities, and financing structures.
Accounting oversight & controls
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Manage account receivable functions including check deposits, creation of recurring schedules, customer accounts in accounting software, etc.
- Oversee monthly close, revenue recognition (ASC 606), deferred revenue, and GAAP compliance.
- Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness, and scalable financial processes.
System optimization
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Own financial systems (e.g., billing platform, GL, FP&A tools).
- Improve integrations between billing, CRM, and financial reporting systems.
Cross-functional financial leadership
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Serve as a strategic partner to department heads on hiring plans, comp modeling, and investment ROI.
- Build cost discipline without stifling growth.
Team building
- Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Recruit and mentor finance and accounting talent as the company scales.
- Build a finance function designed for $X ARR, not just today’s revenue.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance
- Experience with financial reporting requirements
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Technology or software industry experience, preferably in SaaS environments
- Experience with QuickBooks is preferred
